Xin’an River
Xin’an River is known in China for its “Baisha Mist”. The white mist rising from the river makes the surrounding scenery appear mysterious. In fact, in ancient times, it was famous not for the mist but for its water. In the Tang Dynasty, Li Bai, the great poet, wrote a poem called “Walking Along the Clear River”. It reads, “the water clears my heart as the limpidity of the water; it is so different from other waters but no one knows the reason; it is a mirror for pedestrians and a screen for birds.” Even though thousands of years have passed since the poem was written the river, however, is still the same as it was before.
Xiaya Village
Xiaya Village, located in the middle of the Xin’an River of the “Two River and One Lake” Scenic Area, is a vital stop on the golden itinerary from Hangzhou to Qiandao Lake to Mount Huangshan. It has breath-taking views and is rich in culture. In ancient times, it used to be a significant business wharf and even still today retains many ancient houses and streets. In addition, it was the birthplace of the “Fengde Marquis” Sunshao who was a great figure of society and in memory of him, descendants keep the “Fengde Marquis Temple” and “Fuchun Hall” of Sun Family in integrity.
