Introduction

Located in the northwest of Dinghai District, Zhoushan City, Madai Scenic Area is a serene and elegant natural oxygen bar with a high forest coverage rate of 95 percent.

With long history of sea culture, it is recorded to have made potteries and stone tools and planted rice for more than 6000 years. There are more than ten potteries found in the relics and the earliest letters in the islands. To appreciate its abundant historical culture, Madai Museum, the only suburban museum in Zhejiang, is a good place, which keeps many cultural relics and reproduces the old life before more than 6000 years. Thus, Madai is listed in the historical cultural preservation area in Zhejiang, and is reputed as the land of maritime heritage, the cradle of oceanic culture and the best village of island in China. Apart from the Madai Museum, there are many sites well-preserved for people to trace back, such as Madai Ancient Cultural Relic Group, Former Residence, Beacon Tower and so on.
