Introduction

When it comes to food streets in Wenzhou, Chunhui Road in Xialupu is the most memorable of all. Home to a great number of restaurants, each and every one of them does booming business, contradicting universally understood concepts of economic competition. There’s an exotic Southeast Asian themed restaurant, as well as those offering Japanese and Korean cuisines, and the traditional Wenzhou snacks.

The “Old Cangqiao Rice Rolls with Boiled Pig's Intestines” has long served as a well-known brand to many people. It remains open 24 hours round the clock, allowing patrons to indulge in their cravings at any time. It can definitely be called the most traditional Wenzhou characteristic snack; despite a rather unappetizing name, the freshly-cooked rolls are aromatic and taste extremely delicious. The pig intestines are soft and waxy, the coagulated pig blood is flavorsome, and the rolls themselves are tender while the hot soup is particularly mouthwatering.

Right opposite this is a restaurant which offers a lovely Mutton Offal Pot. Combining the handmade noodles with a special peanut butter, it gives off a rich fragrance that travels far along the street, tempting passers-by. Another good option is the Eighteen Noodles Shop where one can savor steaming rice noodles with delicious soup and take a nostalgic trip back in time.
