Introduction

Gaoting Mountain is located in the northeast of the old town of Hangzhou and belongs to Dingqiao Town, Jiang gan District. It borders Xingqiao Town, Yuhang District in the east and Banshan Town, Gongshu District in the west. Its total planning area is about 5.1 square kilometers and it’s about 18 kilometers away from downtown. Gaoting Mountain Scenic Spot was named after Gaoting Mountain, which was named by the God of Gaoting. God Gao referred to the place controlled by imperial power in Sui Dynasty. So Gaoting Mountain has a long history and splendid culture. What’s more, it is a natural barrier at northern Hangzhou, and as a result, people call it ‘the back of Hangzhou’.

In April, 2014, The Gaoting Mountain Scenic Construction Management Committee was set up and it raised 2 billion Yuan in overall planning, constructing, protecting and managing Gaoting Scenic Spot. It planned to take advantage of the coexistence of ecology and culture to develop five commercial activities, namely, intelligent events, filial piety, home-stay facilities, religious tourism, and cultural entrepreneurships. Aiming at local, domestic and international markets, it planned to build the first functional tour trail in Hangzhou, filial piety exhibition hall in Zhejiang, the top home-stay village in China, and the top health and meditation temple in eastern China. Together with the West Lake, it aims to provide top-ranking service for Hangzhou, China and the world.

Gaoting Mountain Scenic Spot possesses rich cultural heritage, a quality ecological environment, harmonious leisure atmosphere and owns unique cultures in several fields like Peach Forest , Buddhism, Taoism and filial piety. There are a lot cultural sites such as Yellow Crane Tower, Qianwangcheng Village, Banjing Pavilion, Gaoting Pavillion, and Former Residence of Wangmeng, etc. With the purpose of propagating Gaoting culture, they have launched a series of new products. For example, they built a 4D interactive cinema in visitor center—Return to Ancient Gaoting. It’s the first 4D cinema in Hangzhou, which takes you back to ancient Gaoting. You can have fitness, leisure and sightseeing at the same time.
