Introduction

Xianxia Pass, located in Xianxia Mountain, Bao’an Village, Jiangshan City, Zhejiang Province, was originally built in the Northern Song Dynasty and is one of Chinese four great ancient passes, equal to Jianmen Pass, Hangu Pass, Yanmen Pass. It is in the first group of key protection units of cultural relics, one of classic red tour itineraries, and one of top eight hiking tour itineraries in Zhejiang. The pass enjoys the reputation of “key of the southeast, throat of entering Fujian” for its location at the convergence of three provinces, Zhejiang, Fujian and Jiangxi.

Xianxia Pass lies on Xianxia Mountain, which is also called “Guquan Mountain” or “Quanlin Mountain” and the main peak of which has a 1413-meter altitude. Xianxia Mountain is a national forest park, connected to high mountains in east-west direction, linked to narrow paths in north-south direction. There are four ancient gates remaining at present. In the first gate, you can enjoy many attractions such as Loma Bridge, Rustling Pavilion, poem tablets, Huangchao Statue, Tablet with “Chrysanthemum Poem” inscribed by Sha Menghai, Tablet of Key of Southeast, Two-treasure Tree, Lord Guan Temple, Divine Rain Nunnery (historic exhibition), Guanyin Garret, Huanxia Pavilion; the second gate has sweet spring, Xialin Pavilion and relics of Shuaixing Room; the third gate has relics of ancient forts; the fourth has Fukou Pavilion.

Xianxia Pass is the main relic of Xianxia Ancient Path which is an ancient road to Beijing with many legends across Fujian Province and Zhejiang Province and is the gateway to Fujian Province from Mainland. Accordingly, the ancient path proceeds unique historical civilization of Rivers and Mountains, making the history of the path a development history of Jiangnan.
