Zhuji & Pujiang Two Day Tour
Zhejiang, richly endowed by nature, has been a land of plenty since the early time. Many legendary stories have taken place on this magic land. Xi Shi, one of the four beauties of ancient China, was born in Zhuji two thousand years ago. Brave and intelligent, Xi Shi played an important role in the overthrow of the Kingdom of Wu. Let’s go all the way south along Hangjinqu Highway to visit the hometown of Xi Shi, and Xianhua Mountain where the daughter of Xuan Yuan attained immortality.
Set off from Hangzhou in the morning, it takes an hour and a half to reach Zhuji Xi Shi Gu Li Scenic Area, which was built to memorize the beautiful woman in history.
Xi Shi was trained as a spy and offered by the King Goujian of Yue to the King Fuchai of Wu as a tribute in a secret revenge plan. Bewitched by the beauty and kindness of Xi Shi, Fuchai forgot all about his state affairs and at their instigation, killed his best advisor and finally lost his state. In the revenge story, the heroine lived with her lover, the minister of Yue, after the revenge, roaming like fairies in the misty wilderness of Taihu Lake, and no one saw them ever again. Here in the park you can see the stone on which Xi Shi was said to raisin her silk scarf.
By noon, we will have a local snack called Ci Wu Da Noodle for lunch. In the afternoon we will drive to Pujiang. In the afternoon we will visit the family house of Zheng’s, which was praised as the first family in Jiangnan by Zhu Yuanzhang, the first emperor of the Ming Dynasty.
This night we will live in the villa on the hillside of Xianhua Mountain.
After breakfast, let’s set off to climb Xianhua Mountain. First you can choose to burn incense at the Lingzhao Palace for good luck. Then we will go the east line to climb the mountain. It usually takes an hour to reach Tong Hai Ancient Cave, where the path diverges into two. One of the paths leads to Maiden Peak, the highest peak in Xianhua Mountain with an altitude of 720.8 meters. This place is famous for the legend of Yuan Xiu, the daughter of Xuan Yuan family, who attained immortality through spiritual practice at this place. The other path is the returning route to the mountain feet. The scenery on the top of Maiden Peak is really worth a visit if you are energetic enough to complete the tour.
Climbing down from Xianhua Mountain, we will have our lunch in the family restaurant. Then it will be the time to return.
